“Madness isn’t the experience, rather it’s the way you deal with it.”
Lessons to be learned...
I’ve been through the mental health system more than once and survived to tell the tale. Here are a few guide-lines that can help the new inductee..
If you see dead people, don’t give them your phone number, they tend to call all hours
The psychiatrist doesn’t believe you. They’re not paid to believe you, their career depends on that important fact
Cheeseburgers are not indictive of God’s plan for the world
Your dog/cat/goldfish cannot control your thoughts by their eyes (even though they say they can)
Fizzy drinks do make you hyper - good for creativity
UFO’s are real, as are ghosts, bigfoot and (insert your encounter here). Its no good proving them to people who only watch them on the movies. That way, if it’s badly taken they can dismiss it as a crap film.
I believe you. I’m not making any money off your delusions
Every can of coke does contain poison, thats not a secret
If you do need to go to hospital, remember; never trust a person wearing pointy shoes. The more pointy, the more they earn to keep you running around. Round shoes good. Pointy shoes, baaaad.
If you’re white and pasty like me, anti-psychotics give you a wicked tan in summer
Mental illness affects one in five people, but it it’s effects are felt by all.
Everyone of us has a mind, its essential to life as our heart or our soul. It links our dreaming to our actions. Sometimes, like bridge, a mind can break especially if it’s put under a lot of constant heavy traffic. When it breaks, it needs repairing properly with structure and special knowledge.
There’s no need to be ashamed or frightened of mental illness, if anything its a sign of fortitude because it shows that you have an extra understanding of life. On the other side of illness is sk’illness. Use it, share it, teach it.
